NAS SCHOOL STUDENT ART PRIZE 2016 (SSAP)

This year Newcastle Art Space is introducing the NAS School Student Art Prize running in conjunction with 
The Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize (NEAP). 


We are very excited to offer this wonderful opportunity for school students in Years 10-12. Below are the conditions of entry.

NAS School Student Art Prize 2016: Conditions of entry

WHO CAN ENTER?
·       Student artists who are currently in Year 10, 11 or 12
·       Must live in Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Central Coast or Cessnock.

ARTWORK SUBMISSIONS
·       There are 3 sections: Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12
·       Student artists can only submitted one (1) entry only.
·       The entry fee is $10.
·       Artworks are to be delivered to Newcastle Art Space (246 Parry St, Hamilton East) on Sunday 14th August between 10am and 2pm only. No late works will be accepted.

RESTRICTIONS ON, AND CRITERIA FOR WORKS BEING ENTERED – (ALL SECTIONS.)
·       The maximum size of any artwork is 100cm x 100cm (including frame) May be a multi-panel work as long as the overall dimensions do not exceed the maximum size limit of 100cm x 100cm including frame.
·       Works must be two-dimensional (this includes but not limited to oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, mixed media, photo-media, digital illustration, drawing, printmaking, painting, stenciling)
·       No three- dimensional works will be accepted, as there is limited space
·       D-hooks are required on the back of framed works and canvas (no heavy frames/works please)
·       Unframed work will be tacked to the wall
·       No wet works will be accepted.

ENTRY PROCESS AND GENERAL AGREEMENTS
·       Artworks to be delivered to Newcastle Art Space on Sunday 14th August between 10am and 2pm only.
·       The responsibility for transporting works to and from the Gallery rests with the artist/s.
·       Each entry needs to be accompanied by an entry form and $10 entry fee, which needs to be paid in cash.
·       Entry fees are non-refundable
·       Artworks need to be clearly labeled with artist’s name, title of work, medium, size, price and contact number. Please mark ‘top’ of artwork if required.
·       Artworks must be made available for display during the entire period of the exhibition. (Sunday 14th August- Sunday 28th August)
·       Entrants authorise and agree to permit the organisers of NAS School Student Art Prize to publish their names, to photograph the work and reproduce images of any work selected for the purpose of promotion.
·       Newcastle Art Space, will exercise all due care with the works submitted, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered whatsoever to any art work while in transit or under its control.
·     NAS require a limited number of parents or volunteers (over 18 years of age) to assist with gallery sitting (timetable to be determined on entry day – shifts 11.30-1.30pm & 1.30-3.30pm for Weekdays and 12-2.30 and 2.30-5pm for Weekends).  If you have a question please contact 0437766893
·     The decision of the Judge/s is final on all aspects of awarding the Prizes, and no correspondence or appeal will be entered into or considered.

COLLECTION OF UNSOLD WORKS
·       Unsold works in NAS School Student Art Prize 2016 must be collected on Sunday 28th August 4-6pm. Contact nasdirector@ncac.org.au or 0437766893/0401028450 to arranged an alternative pickup time.
·       Works not collected after 10 days and in the absence of appropriate arrangements listed above artwork will be deemed to be the property of NCAC and may be sold or otherwise disposed of by The Committee acting in the best interests of the NAS School Student Art Prize.
·       Payment for works sold will be finalised after the show and artists will be contacted when ready for collection.

IMPORTANT DATES
·       Works to be submitted to NAS – Sunday 14th August 10am – 2pm.
·       Works installed – Monday 15th - Thursday 18th August.
·       Judging – Friday 19th August
·       Opening Night and Award presentation – Saturday 20th August from 6.30pm
